Governor Kathy Hochul announced Monday a $4.7 million funding boost for New York to enhance comprehensive outpatient addiction treatment programs. This marks the second tranche of financial support channeled through the state’s Opioid Settlement Fund.
Central to these programs is the dual offering of standard outpatient treatments and specialized opioid therapies at a singular location. This holistic approach prioritizes individualized services, notably including medication-assisted treatments tailored for opioid use disorders.
In shedding light on the state’s commitment to addressing addiction and overdose crises, Governor Hochul remarked, “The Opioid Settlement Fund seeks to strengthen the outreach to affected New Yorkers, ensuring they understand that assistance is within their reach.”
Several entities were selected for the financial awards:
- CASA-Trinity, Inc. in the Finger Lakes region received $660,000.
- Helio Health, Inc., also in the Finger Lakes, was granted $760,000.
- The Community Action Organization of Western New York, Inc. obtained a sum of $401,990.
OASAS Commissioner Dr. Chinazo Cunningham emphasized the importance of streamlining addiction treatment and additional health provisions within a centralized facility. She noted, “By reducing logistical barriers, we’re increasing the potential to save lives and provide more New Yorkers with the help they urgently need.”
In essence, these integrated centers are architectured to unify medication regimens like methadone with a suite of other essential addiction and healthcare services. The consolidated framework ensures New Yorkers grappling with substance use disorders can readily access a diverse range of therapeutic interventions in one setting.
