Volunteers sought for Catholic Charities Immigration & Refugee Assistance program

Catholic Charities is looking for volunteer drivers, transportation guides and teams to assist in setting up a safe home environment for newly arriving refugee families through its Immigration and Refugee Assistance program.

“For 100 years, Catholic Charities and the clients we serve rely on the dedication of valuable volunteers to provide a beacon of hope, especially newly arrived individuals and families who have fled traumatizing situations and are building new lives in our community,” said Drew Yates, program administrator for the Immigration and Refugee Assistance program.

The program seeks volunteers with trucks to pick up donations that will be dropped off at Catholic Charities or directly to a client’s home. They must also have a clean New York State driver’s license, along with the ability to lift heavy furniture and climb stairs, if necessary.

Teams of eight to 12 volunteers will also helpย create a welcoming and safe home environment for new families before they arrive and assist them in other ways.

For more information, or to request a volunteer application, call 716-218-1450, ext. 2006, or visit online at ccwny.org/get-involved/.
