TOWN OF WALLKILL – The Town of Wallkill’s proposed 2024 general fund budget comes in at $22 million, with the tax rate increasing by one percent, under the state’s tax cap.
Town Supervisor George Serrano said the fiscal plan is stabilized by hotel room tax and sales tax.
“Thanks to State Senator Skoufis and Assemblywoman Gunther for getting our state tax renewed on September 1, and since we will most likely have a new hotel opening up in the summer of 2024, that will increase our hotel tax,” he said.
Serrano said his budget includes increased funding for paving as well as senior and junior police academies.
It will now be up to the town board to scrutinize the spending plan before modifying or adopting it as is.
