MONTGOMERY – Former Montgomery town supervisor Susan Cockburn, who sought to run for the post again this fall on the Democratic line, but was bumped off over invalid petitions, is back on the ballot, but this time as an independent.
She will be running against Montgomery Village Mayor and Orange County Legislator Steven Brescia.
Cockburn and town board candidate Jeff Samerson will appear on Row E as RESPECT Montgomery candidates.
“This independent initiative aims to tackle issues that transcend party affiliation, like the unchecked establishment of large warehouses, the neglect of critical infrastructure projects, and the decay of town-owned buildings,” Cockburn said. “The health and safety of our community have been ignored for too long. With RESPECT Montgomery, we aim to bring about the change our town desperately needs.”
