Robert D. Vigar, 96, passed peacefully in his home on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023. Robert was a Navy veteran, had a 30-year career at FDNY, and was a long-time Westerleigh resident. During his youth, Bob worked as a stable hand at Clove Lake Stables and developed a lifelong affinity for horses. In 1954, Bob married his love Norma, and they celebrated 69 years of marriage. They raised three daughters, were active at Zion Lutheran Church in Westerleigh, and are proud grandparents to nine grandchildren. Aside from his family, Bob loved nothing more than golf and fishing. Frances Ann Brooks of Highland, NY, born in Manhattan in March 1949, passed away on Saturday, Oct. 21, 2023. After spending her childhood with friends and family on Staten Island, she went on to earn her master’s degree from Pace University. She then met her husband, Peter Stuyvesant Brooks, who also worked at Chemical Bank. They both retired in 2011 and settled in Highland, where they had been weekenders for years. YESTERDAY’S OBITUARIES
Kenneth A. Ellis, 88, died on Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023. He graduated from Curtis High School being a member of their hall of fame. He then went on to receive a Bachelor’s Degree in Math/Physics at Wagner College. Ken was a US Naval Mobile Construction Battalion veteran serving in North Carolina and Barbados. His career after was in corporate real estate, including for the Parish of Trinity Church and Wall Street. Kenneth was a loving family man and he is survived by his wife of sixty-one years.
