Authorities search for man after pursuit from Broome to Tompkins counties

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office identified the suspect involved in a recent pursuit as 30-year-old Christopher Borges from Binghamton. Borges, who stands approximately 5 feet 10 inches tall and weighs around 160 pounds, is currently wanted by the Broome County Sheriff’s Office on charges of first-degree robbery, a Class B felony.

The chase started in Binghamton and continued into Tompkins County. Borges, who was reportedly involved in an armed robbery, was last seen operating a UHaul truck on Slaterville Road before fleeing on foot into a wooded area near the 2000 block of Slaterville Rd. Authorities have expanded the search radius to 5 square miles and have cautioned residents around the area, specifically between Landon Road and Deerfield Lane, to remain indoors.

Aiding in the search operation are the New York State Police and the Tompkins County Sheriff’s Office. Additionally, support has been sought from the Ithaca-Tompkins Specialized Response Team due to concerns that Borges is armed.
