STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — USPS is hosting a job fair, recruiting city carrier assistants (CCA), at Staten Island’s main post office on 550 Manor Rd. in Castleton Corners on Thursday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
CCAs deliver and collect mail on foot or by vehicle in a city area, providing a critical service to the community by ensuring mail delivery during weekdays, weekends and holidays.
They maintain good relations with customers and have a general familiarity with postal laws, regulations, and products for their area.
CCAs may be eligible for certain benefits, including paid leave and health insurance as well as opportunities for career promotion.
USPS describes the position as ideal for candidates who enjoy staying active outdoors with occasional customer service interactions.

CCAs are responsible for delivering and collecting mail within a city area, by foot or vehicle.
- Job duties include:
- Sort, lift and push moderate to heavy loads of mail and packages to prepare for delivery
- Deliver mail along your assigned route
- Pick up or collect mail from customers
- Collect postage due for charge on delivery or other services
- Work indoors and outdoors in all weather: rain, snow, cold and heat
There will be an H.R team on hand to assist with the online hiring process. Applicants for the CCA position are required to have a valid state driver’s license, a safe driving record, and a minimum of two years of driving experience.
The starting pay for the role is $19.33/hour — this may include certain benefits, such as paid leave and health insurance, as part of the compensation package.
