A despondent 39-year-old from Lacona went missing in the village of Sandy Creek last week.
The Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, the Oswego County Search Team, and the Lacona Fire Department began a search for the missing person on the afternoon of Oct. 27.
At 2:07 p.m., a drone spotted the missing person, who was unconscious.
A New York State Department of Environmental Conservation forest ranger who was on the nearest search team arrived quickly and resuscitated the individual. Rescue crews carried the person out in a litter to an ambulance before transporting them to the hospital.

On the afternoon of Oct. 27, a SUV got stuck in a deep hole on an unmaintained dirt road in the hamlet of Ticonderoga, stranding two passengers. A ranger helped find a tow truck operator who could make it to the road. Once the tow operator pulled the SUV out, however, the vehicle failed to start, so the ranger gave the stranded passengers a ride to Schroon Lake.
A 54-year-old woman from Pennfield got lost on the afternoon of Oct. 25 after making a wrong turn while hiking the Rock River Trail in Hamilton County. A ranger found her near Benton Road and helped her back to her vehicle at the trailhead.
On the evening of Oct. 25, a 25-year-old hiker from New Jersey fell ill in the Neversink River Unique Area. A ranger arrived and determined her symptoms might be related to low blood sugar. After providing oral glucose and some food, the ranger walked the hiker out of the woods.

After dark on Oct. 28, a hunter called 911 to report his 71-year-old hunting partner overdue in the town of Piercefield, St. Lawrence County. The overdue hunter wasn’t answering his phone. Four rangers began searching for the lost hunter and found him around 11 p.m. The hunter, from Tupper Lake, had gotten disoriented…
