Police in Brooklyn are awaiting the results of an autopsy in the death of a 67-year-old woman whose body was found in a box inside her apartment on Friday afternoon.
Officers from the 67th Precinct made the gruesome discovery while responding to a 911 call at 179 Linden Blvd. in East Flatbush at about 12:17 p.m. on Nov. 3.
The woman’s body was located inside the apartment where she lived with her son, sources familiar with the case said. It’s not yet known how long she had been dead.
Members of the NYPD Crime Scene Unit worked into the night Friday gathering evidence from the apartment.Â
Police took her son into custody for further questioning. As of Saturday morning, no charges have been filed against him, law enforcement sources said.
The NYPD has not yet released the woman’s identity, pending family notification.
