The top-ranked Hobart College hockey team defeated New England College, which was receiving votes in this week’s USCHO.com poll, 7-0 in a New England Hockey Conference contest at The Cooler this evening. With their third straight shutout, the Statesmen are now 3-1-0 on the season, including a 2-0-0 mark in conference play.
Five different skaters finished with a multi-point game for Hobart. Junior Luke Aquaro and first-year Logan Gotinsky had two goals each. Sophomore Tanner Daniels and senior Jonah Alexander had a pair of helpers. Sophomore Mavrick Goyer made 15 saves as he earned his second shutout of the season.
Kai Tomita played all 60 minutes in goal. He made 54 saves.

- Tonight’s victory was the Statesmen’s 22nd consecutive win at The Cooler.
- Hobart’s penalty kill continues to click to start the year. The Statesmen have killed off their opponent’s first 15 power play opportunities.

SCORING SUMMARY
- Hobart opened the scoring at the 5:36 mark of the first period. Aquaro redirected a Khalil Fontana pass across the goal line. Daniels was also awarded an assist on Aquaro’s third goal of the year.
- Six minutes later, Gotinsky gave the Statesmen a 2-0 lead. He one-timed a shot from the slot past Tomita for his second goal of the year. Alexander was credited with an assist on the goal.
- With less than a minute remaining in the period, Senior Wil Crane picked up his first goal of the year, slipping a backhanded shot from the low slot across the goal line. First-year Bauer Morrisey and sophomore Tristan Fasig had assists on the goal.
