New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers has remained steadfast since he suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his first game with his new team: he will return this season.
Despite a general return timeline of around 12 months when factoring in healing and rehab after Achilles surgery, coach Robert Saleh and players alike have echoed Rodgers’ feelings. They won’t doubt him, they say.

That is, except for one Jets source who spoke to The Athletic in a piece that revealed how the 39-year-old Rodgers continues to help, even from the sidelines.
“I just don’t see how it’s remotely possible, that’s where I’m at,” said one high-ranking Jets source, speaking on the condition of anonymity so he is not seen as unsupportive of the quarterback. “I’m not counting it out, but it would be insane if it happened.”
While the Jets are 4-3, Zach Wilson has provided them with lackluster results — five touchdowns, five interceptions and 1,337 yards passing in seven games.
If Rodgers’ mindset for return is correct, he’d be back in December, less than four months after the injury. That would be an unprecedented return: Running back Cam Akers returned from a right Achilles injury after more than five months in 2021 and struggled during the postseason. He tore his left Achilles on Sunday.

Rodgers attended the Breeder’s Cup on Saturday and gave an update on his status.
“I’m feeling good,” he said, via Pro Football Talk. “I do rehab every single day. This is part of my rehab, walking down to the betting window over here to grab some food or drink, which my trainers will be happy with that. I’m trying to put my leg up as much as I can. I’ve got my dad shoes on, my rockers, so I can walk without any pain. But it’s a process. Step by step. Day by day. There’s some great days, some rough days.
