BREAKING: Poughkeepsie city hall for lack of heat

POUGHKEEPSIE – City Hall has been closed by Mayor  Marc Nelson due to a lack of heat in the building that also houses the police department headquarters.  The heat has not been working at the building since this past weekend.  On Monday morning at approximately 11:00 a.m., with the outdoor temperature at 38 degrees, the decision was made to close the building and release all non-essential employees.

The police department is considered essential and the staff, including dispatchers, will continue to work in the cold building.

In addition to allowing the city hall workers to leave, the DPW employees have been sent home as well as the parking enforcement workers.  Neither of those departments is stationed at city hall.
