NFL Draft 2024: Where are Giants in projected order after blowout loss at Cowboys?

ARLINGTON, Texas — The Giants got destroyed by the Cowboys on Sunday, 49-17.

So the Giants are now 2-8 — which is bad.

But it’s good for their position in the 2024 NFL Draft.

With that in mind, let’s look at the latest top-of-the-draft order, via Tankathon:

1. Bears (from Panthers, 1-8 — .512 strength of schedule)

2. Giants (2-8 — .522)

3. Cardinals (2-8 — .544)

4. Patriots (2-8 — .545)

5. Bears (3-7 — .481)

So that’s the top five.

After that there are three teams at 3-6 — the Packers, Rams, and Titans.

Next are the 3-5 Broncos, who play the Bills on Monday night. At this point, there are nine teams with three wins or fewer.

As for this week’s results, the Cardinals beat the Falcons, which helped the Giants. The Bears on Thursday night beat the Panthers. And on Sunday, the Patriots lost to the Colts in Germany.

For context, this is how the top of the 2024 draft order looked entering Sunday:

1. Bears (from Panthers, 1-8 — .510 strength of schedule)

2. Cardinals, 1-8 — .538

3. Giants, 2-7 — .524

4. Patriots, 2-7 — 551

5. Bears, 3-7 — .476

6. Rams, 3-6 — .521

Then came four teams at 3-5 — Packers, Buccaneers, Broncos, and Titans.

Those were the 10 NFL teams entering Sunday that had three wins or fewer.

Entering Sunday, the Giants had the strength-of-schedule tiebreaker over the Patriots, which is why they were third and the Patriots were fourth.

The Giants, of course, could draft a quarterback high next year. Ditto for the Bears, Cardinals, and Patriots — especially since it remains possible (probable?) that New England will fire head coach/general manager Bill Belichick.
