Woman charged with kidnapping child from hotel

HYDE PARK – A 27-year-old Hyde Park woman has been arrested on felony kidnapping charges following a domestic dispute with her partner in Hyde Park on Sunday.  The New York State Police responded to the report of a kidnapping at the Golden Manor Hotel on November 12, 2023, at 8:40 p.m.

Upon arrival at the hotel, police learned that Ashley Hernandez and her partner had been involved in a verbal domestic dispute which led to Hernandez driving herself, her partner, and her partner’s 11-month-old baby to the Route 9 hotel.  The argument continued at the hotel and Hernandez locked her partner out of the car and drove away from the hotel, with her partner’s child still in the car.

The child is not related to Hernandez and she does not have any custodial rights to the baby.

Around 10:00 p.m. Sunday, the troopers located Hernandez and the child in the vicinity of the hotel.  Both the woman and child were in good health.

Hernandez was arrested on a felony charge of kidnapping and a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a child.  She was arraigned before Hyde Park Judge Joe Petito and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail on $10,000 cash bail, $20,000 bond, or $30,000 partially-secured bond.  Hernandez is due back in court on November 15, 2023, at 9:30 a.m.
