Writing workshops focus on home — kitchen included

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Memories can be so vivid, one can taste their deliciousness. That might be the goal for a student of published author-writer Maria Giura, who hosts occasional writing workshops.

The next session will be held both virtually and in person. from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Casa Belvedere on Thursday, Nov. 16.

Giura said, “It will give you the opportunity to reflect and write about what home means to you: whether it’s centered around a house, a country, a loved one, a favorite meal or a state of mind.”

Participants will read short, vibrant excerpts by published authors on the subject and then will be given prompts to write their own original piece.

No experience is necessary, Guira said, adding, “Just bring a notebook, pen and sense of curiosity and fun.” All backgrounds are welcome.
