Ex-Mets pitcher spotted Photoshop gone wrong of him at Citi Field

Ex-Mets pitcher Trevor May spotted something strange in Citi Field in 2022.

On Tuesday, the now-retired reliever took to X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, to poke some fun at his former team. He posted a picture of a banner with his likeness hanging somewhere in the stadium that appears to have been photoshopped.

“This is my banner at Citi in 2022. Look odd? That’s because my face is photoshopped onto Seth Lugo’s body,” he wrote. “That’s his Wilson glove, Adidas cleats, and definitely his delivery LOL.”

On Wednesday, may retweeted the photo, adding:

“Let me be clear, this is not criticism of anyone. Whoever was tasked with the job nailed it,” he wrote on X. “I’m glad this exists!

In October, May decided to call it quits, announcing his retirement after a nine-year MLB career via Twitch on Monday.

Drafted by the Phillies in the fourth round of the 2008 Draft, May began his MLB career with the Twins, where he pitched six seasons before signing with the Mets. After two seasons with New York, the 34-year-old signed with the Athletics, where he pitched just one season before owner John Fisher turned him off to the game.

“To the A’s organization and every single person part of it, I love all of you, every single one of you, except for one guy and we all know who that guy is,” May said.

“Sell the team, dude. I tried to get a ‘sell’ shirt but it didn’t get here fast enough. Sell it, man. Let someone who actually takes pride in the things they own, own something. There’s actually people who give a s–t about the game. Let them do it.”

In two seasons with the Mets, May made 94 appearances and posted a 4.00 ERA, serving mostly as closer Edwin Diaz’s set-up man. For his career, he made 358 appearances (26 starts), posting a 4.24 ERA while also recording 33 saves.
