Two men were stabbed, one fatally, at a park in Chinatown in Manhattan on Thursday night, according to police.
Around 8:30 p.m., police responded to a 911 call of a person stabbed inside of Sara D. Roosevelt Park, near Broome and Delancey streets.
When the officers arrived, they found an unidentified man, believed to be in his 20s, with a stab wound to his chest, and a 24-year-old man with a stab wound to his torso. Police have not released the second man’s identity.
First responders took both victims to Bellevue Hospital, where the 24-year-old man was listed in stable condition and the unidentified man was pronounced dead.
Police said the suspects were four men, and said one was wearing a Chicago Bulls jacket while another was wearing a blue sweatshirt. The group fled south on Chrystie Street on foot.
NYPD officials were still investigating the incident on Friday morning, and no arrests had been made.
Several high-profile stabbings have taken place in and around Sara D. Roosevelt Park in the past.
In February 2022, Christina Yuna Lee, 35, was fatally stabbed about two blocks away by a stranger who allegedly followed her home.
In May, Lee’s family filed a lawsuit against the NYPD for what they said was a delayed response to 911 calls about the attack.
The lawsuit also claims the city “failed to control significant public safety conditions” at the park, citing the Oct. 16, 2021 murder of Grubhub delivery worker Sala Miah, who was fatally stabbed while resting on a park bench.
