Two die when Central NY home catches on fire, police say

Conquest, N.Y. — Two people died Tuesday morning in a home that caught on fire in Conquest, Cayuga County, state troopers said.

A neighbor saw flames coming from the home around 6 a.m. on 11267 Drake Road. The neighbor knocked on the door to alert people inside but no one answered, troopers said in a news release.

Firefighters found a 56-year-old man and a 44-year-old woman dead in the rear bedroom of the home, troopers said. They were taken to the Onondaga County Medical Examiner’s office to determine their cause of death, they said.
