Naloxboxes installed at St. Lawrence County Neighborhood Centers across county

POTSDAM – The Northern Area Health Education Center (NAHEC) and Seaway Valley Prevention Council took a significant step in combating opioid overdoses by installing Naloxboxes at the St. Lawrence County Neighborhood Centers on Oct. 18.

Boxes were placed in the Neighborhood Centers in Potsdam, Canton, Parishville, Pierrepont, Colton, and Massena. These installations will provide each community with safe access to eight doses of Narcan, a life-saving medication for opioid emergencies.

NAHEC points to a Rural Communities Opioid Response Program (RCORP) grant for the opportunity to extend these services across St. Lawrence County Schools. Other organizations throughout the County are eligible to receive a NaloxBox, amplifying the impact of their efforts in combating the opioid crisis.

Whitney Callaghan, the Center Director at NAHEC, encourages organizations interested in installing a Naloxbox at their location to reach out via email at [email protected].

A Naloxbox was also installed at the Gouverneur Community Center and the Gouverneur Highway Department on Oct. 31. This installation will provide the Gouverneur community with safe access to eight doses of Narcan, a life-saving medication for opioid emergencies, at each location.
