Geneva man charged with attempted murder after Byrne Dairy shooting: Police say he fled to Pennsylvania

Police in Geneva have provided an update on a shooting that took place at the Byrne Dairy on Castle Street in early-November.

On November 3, police responded to the convenience store near Main and Castle streets for a reported shooting.

The found a victim who suffered gunshot wounds to his lower extremities.

Following a weeks-long investigation, police arrested Miguel Angel Valencia, 30, of Geneva on November 24.

He was arrested on a multi-count indictment warrant, according to police, who say he faces several charges โ€“ including attempted murder, attempted assault, second-degree assault, and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.

All of those charges are felony counts, police added.

The investigation revealed that Valencia fled to Pennsylvania after the shooting. With the assistance of the United States Marshals and the Kingston Police Department, Valencia was located in Kingston, Pennsylvania, and subsequently arrested.

He was held at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility until his extradition back to New York State.
