Larceny leads to high-speed chase from Dryden to Ithaca: Two arrested, one in custody

A larceny incident at the Speedway gas station in Dryden led to a high-speed police chase and multiple arrests in the early hours of November 26.

The Dryden Police Department reported a larceny at 2:45 a.m. at 51 North Street, where a masked individual stole cigarettes and lottery tickets before fleeing in a white Jeep.

The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Deputies located the Jeep shortly after the incident and pursued it as it sped through Dryden, Lansing, and into Ithaca, reaching speeds over 55 MPH and briefly driving the wrong way on a one-way street.

The chase concluded on Chestnut Street in Ithaca, where deputies arrested all three occupants of the Jeep without further incident. There were no injuries or property damage reported, and the stolen items, along with a ski mask and a pellet gun, were recovered.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Briana N. Forest of Ithaca, faces charges including reckless driving and failure to yield to an emergency vehicle, among other traffic violations. She was released with an appearance ticket.

Another occupant, 43-year-old Allen Forest, also from Ithaca, was charged with criminal possession of stolen property and had multiple outstanding arrest warrants. He will also face charges from the Dryden Police for petit larceny and was turned over for arraignment.

The New York State Police, Ithaca Police, and Cayuga Heights Police provided assistance during the incident.
