MIDDLETOWN – Car larcenies are crimes of opportunity. Most are committee when vehicles are left unlocked.
In Middletown, there has been a recent rash of those larcenies and Police Chief John Ewanciw wants residents to be on the alert.
“Over the last couple of weeks, we have had a rash of car larcenies again. We have made a couple of arrests. They seem to be focused on unlocked cars. So once again, I urge people to lock their cars to help deter that kind of activity,” he said.
As a matter of practice, police say you should never leave valuables in plain sight in your vehicle as that may tempt a would-be robber to attempt to steal it.
