MONTICELLO – The Monticello Village Board has approved the creation of a cannabis growers showcase initiative that would allow licensed cannabis growers and processors to showcase their products to consumers at approved events.
Mayor George Nikolados said the concept is a good one given what unlicensed growers are doing.
“Unfortunately, you see a lot of non-sanctioned marijuana sales in the area to so get people here who are following the law and are going to be able to get the farmers some money who invested into this as the retail side is get going I think is a good play and get over the holiday season would be great,” he said after the board voted three to one on Wednesday.
The initiative must still be approved in Albany.
