The state is continuing its crackdown on illegal pot shops across the region — shutting down Jaygega7.0 in Canandaigua.
The operation, executed with a court order from the Ontario County Supreme Court, led to the seizure of products worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.
According to OCM officials, the store, which opened in 2019 under the ownership of George West, lacked a legal license to sell cannabis products. This action follows a cease violation issued earlier this year, which the business reportedly disregarded.
During a regulatory inspection in June, OCM had previously seized a significant amount of product from Jaygega7.0. Owners George West and Emily Tapke were arrested by Canandaigua police in 2022 for illegal cannabis sales.
Following the recent shutdown, West faces no new criminal charges but has a pending court date. OCM has stipulated that any business violating cannabis sale regulations will be ineligible to apply for a license for a minimum of three years, emphasizing a rigorous review of applicants’ past activities.
