MONTICELLO – Sullivan County’s Vet2Vet program is offering Christmas trees to any vet that for one reason or another cannot secure one.
“It’s all about giving,” said Kyle Salvatore of Delaware Valley Farm and Garden Center in Callicoon, who is donating trees to veterans through the program.
Matt Kleman, the Vet2Vet advocate with Action Toward Independence in Monticello, said they provide vouchers to vets who can redeem them at the farm.
The suicide rate among veterans is very high and Salvatore said if donating a tree can help a vet feel better, “why not?”
He said just taking a tree home and setting it up, “they know someone is thinking about them.”
