FDNY: 4 firefighters injured responding to house fire in New Dorp Beach

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — Four firefighters suffered minor injuries while battling an all-hands fire that broke out at a New Dorp Beach residence Friday afternoon, according to a spokesperson for the FDNY.

The incident unfolded at 23 Winham Ave., between New Dorp Lane and Celtic Place, and was reported at 3:43 p.m., as noted by the spokesperson.

About 60 firefighters and EMS personnel from 12 units were on the scene of the one-story home, the spokesperson said.

Firefighters dealt with “a heavy clutter condition” in combatting the heavy fire throughout, said the spokesperson.

Emergency vehicles could be seen lining New Dorp Lane.

According to the FDNY spokesperson, the fire was placed under control around 4:45 p.m.

Outside, the windows of the home were notably destroyed; one side of the house was heavily damaged. Firefighters could be seen removing items from inside the residence.
