Shohei Ohtani announces he will sign with Dodgers for $700 million

CLEVELAND, Ohio — Shohei Ohtani is staying in southern California and will sign his next contract with the Los Angeles Dodgers, leaving Anaheim after six seasons with the Angels.

Ohtani announced the move himself Saturday on Instagram, first apologizing to the baseball world for taking his time in arriving at the decision. Ohtani’s agent, Nez Balelo of CAA, announced that the contract is valued at $700 million over 10 years, making it among the richest in the history of professional sports.
