Livingston County jury convicts man in predatory sex assault case

In Livingston County, a harrowing case of abuse has reached an important conclusion in local court.

John R. Litolff, 38, has been convicted of sexually assaulting of a 10-year-old girl in the town of Livonia.

The juryโ€™s decision, reached after a four-day trial, found Litolff guilty of predatory sexual assault against a child and first-degree sexual abuse.

This verdict opens the door for a sentence that could be as severe as 25 years to life in prison.

The assault, which took place in January and February of 2018, was initially reported to the Livingston County Sheriffโ€™s Office by the child and her family in May of the same year.

However, a full investigation into the matter did not commence until earlier this year, following renewed contact from the family to the Sheriffโ€™s Office.

Litolff is now awaiting sentencing, scheduled for February 8, 2024.
