GOSHEN – Glenn Marchi, PhD, takes over as the new Orange County commissioner of information technology/chief information officer now that the county legislature has confirmed his appointment.
Marchi served for the last seven years in a similar capacity in Dutchess County government.
“He brings a wealth of experience driving innovative technology transformations and is highly regarded by his peers throughout New York State,” said County Executive Steven Neuhaus. “Glen will play an important role in further strengthening our technology to advance our long-term strategic growth priorities and deliver services for our employees and residents.”
Marchi, who began his IT career in 1993 with IBM, has a doctorate in philosophy in information science from SUNY Albany.
He is an adjunct professor on the college level and has served in the New York Guard, holding the rank of colonel.
Marchi also served in the Army and Army National Guard and was deployed to Iraq in 2004-05 as a battalion commander.
He was awarded a Bronze Star medal for meritorious service in combat in Iraq and was a first responder to the 9/11 attacks in 2001.
