Yankees send prospect Trey Sweeney to Dodgers

The New York Yankees and Los Angeles Dodgers made a trade Monday.

According to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic, the Yankees sent SS Trey Sweeney (No. 8 prospect) to the Dodgers in exchange for LHP Victor Gonzalez and 2B/SS Jorbit Vivas (No. 10 prospect).

Gonzalez, 28, spent parts of three seasons with LA, where he posted a 3.22 ERA over 89.1 innings. The left-hander, who does have an option, posted a 4.01 ERA last season over 33.2 innings.

Vivas, 22, hit .269 with 13 home runs and a .788 OPS between Double-A and Triple-A last season.

Acquiring Gonazlez from the Dodgers seemingly is the Wandy Peralta replacement, who is a free agent. Itโ€™s also a cheaper option as Gonzalez will make $1M in 2024, and Peralta is expected to get at least $4M.
