An early Sunday morning fire in Enfield caused considerable damage to a home on Black Oak Road, leading to the displacement of one person.
The Enfield Volunteer Fire Company reported that the fire, which originated in the kitchen and living room areas, resulted in significant structural damage. Firefighters were dispatched to the scene just after 5:30 a.m., where they worked collaboratively with teams from Mecklenburg and Newfield to contain and extinguish the blaze.
The firefighting efforts involved substantial resources, including an engine, two tankers, an EMS unit, a fire police unit, a utility unit, and 16 personnel from Enfield Fire Company. Additional support was provided by Newfield Fire Company and Mecklenburg Fire Company, bringing the total response to include another engine, a rescue, a pumper/tanker, and 20 additional personnel.
The occupant of the home was displaced due to smoke and water damage and was transported by Bangs Ambulance to Cayuga Medical Center for evaluation.
The American Red Cross is now assisting the resident. The initial investigation suggests the fire was caused by an electrical issue, and Enfield VFC Chief Stevenson emphasized the importance of electrical safety, especially during the winter months.
