WHITE PLAINS – Westchester County Executive George Latimer has signed the county’s 2024 budget.
The $2.4 billion spending plan holds the line on the tax levy, the same as 2023, and marks the fifth consecutive year without a levy increase.
Latimer said it also provides funding for a host of county functions.
“It includes fully funding our police operations at the highest level that we have. We have also fully funded our public health function, fully funded our mental health function, fully funded our parks and recreation, our department of environmental facilities, our corrections department, right on down the line,” he said. “This budget puts money aside again to continue our initiative for black maternal health. We know that African American mothers have had poor outcomes in the health of their children. We have adopted a program that we hope will help.”
Latimer said the budget comes on the heels of the county being recognized by Fitch Ratings with a “AAA” credit rating. He also said Standard and Poors has also revised the county’s outlook from stable to positive.
