Police in Coney Island are on the hunt for a suspect who shot a man during a brawl early on Sunday morning, authorities reported.
According to police sources, officers from Brooklyn’s 60th Precinct rushed to a community pharmacy located at 2913 Surf Ave. at about 3:30 a.m. on Dec. 17 after they received reports of a fistfight outside of the storefront.
Authorities said the altercation apparently rapidly escalated into gunfire. When officers arrived, they discovered a 43-year-old man lying on the ground in a pool of blood with a gunshot wound to the left side of his abdomen.
While cordoning off the area, investigators recovered two shell casings near where the man was gunned down.Â
Police said the victim was rushed to NYU Langone Hospital-Brooklyn where, after undergoing surgery, he is listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
Law enforcement sources said the male perpetrator may have fled the scene of the shooting westbound on Surf Avenue.Police do not have a description of the gunman at this time.
No arrests have been made and the investigation remains ongoing.
