Lakeview Health Services, a leading provider of behavioral health and housing services in New York’s Finger Lakes region, has announced the appointment of Cathy Lovejoy as its new Chief Executive Officer. Lovejoy, who has been with Lakeview for over two decades, will succeed Harry Merryman following his retirement at the end of the year. As the Chief Program Officer for 11 years, Lovejoy played a pivotal role in the agency’s program operations, contributing significantly to its growth.
Christopher Button, Chairman of the Lakeview Health Services Board of Directors, expressed confidence in Lovejoy’s leadership, describing her as a passionate and energetic leader poised to steer the organization through future challenges. Meanwhile, Merryman, who has led Lakeview since 2012, will stay on through 2024 to assist with the transition. During his tenure, he guided the organization through substantial regulatory changes and the challenges of the pandemic, while also overseeing the development of significant housing projects in Tompkins and Wayne Counties.
Lovejoy, who has a strong background in behavioral health care and housing services, is set to lead Lakeview into a new era of growth. She expressed her gratitude for the opportunity and the support she has received from the Board, staff, and partners. With her experience and leadership, Lovejoy aims to expand Lakeview’s services, aligning with state and county priorities, particularly in light of the Governor’s significant investment in mental health housing and services. Lakeview, under Lovejoy’s leadership, is poised to enhance its impact in the communities it serves, continuing its 45-year legacy of helping individuals achieve their personal life goals.
