Lattimer, Bowman pull early support ahead of Democratic primary

WESTCHESTER- Following an announcement from Westchester County Executive George Latimer that he will challenge incumbent Democrat Jamaal Bowman in the 16th Congressional District next year, the Civil Service Employees Association (CSEA) issued an endorsement of Latimerโ€™s campaign.ย  The endorsement is significant in that it is the first labor endorsement in what is expected to be a highly competitive primary.

CSEA President Mary E. Sullivan said, โ€œGeorge Latimer has a proven track record at every multiple levels of government, with a history of consistent leadership and success throughout his career.ย  It is clear that George will best represent the needs, not only of CSEA members residing in the 16th District, but of all middle and working-class families.โ€

CSEA Southern Region President Anthony M. Adamo said, โ€œAs current Southern Region president and former chair of the CSEA Statewide Political Action Committee, Iโ€™ve interacted with George in his roles as assemblymember, state senator, and now county executive.ย  There is no doubt that George is the most qualified candidate to represent the 16th District and will hit the ground running, no learning curve required.โ€

Latimer touted his record of results, stating that alongside CSEA, he has made Westchester County Government one of the most progressive county governments in the state.

Last week, the state Working Families Party announced their support for Bowmanโ€™s reelection.

In a statement on X, the platform formerly know as Twitter, the party endorsed Bowman calling his leadership courageous and compassionate.

โ€œNYWFP proudly endorses Rep. Bowman for re-election, and looks forward to sending him back to Congress so he can continue fighting for working New Yorkers,โ€ read the post.

The 16th Congressional District includes portions of the Bronx and southern Westchester County.
