Doherty says he accomplished what he intended as chairman

MONTICELLO – Outgoing Sullivan County Legislature Chairman Robert Doherty believes he has accomplished what he set out to do when he was elected.

The Republican lawmaker lost his bid for a second term to Democrat Matt McPhillips in this past November’s election.

Nevertheless, Doherty said under his leadership, the county’s fiscal condition has turned around.

Doherty said he pushed to improve infrastructure, reduce crime in the villages and improve the poor health conditions in Sullivan County.
