Officials in Macedon are taking up strict enforcement of building codes as a means to address zombie properties, or those that have recently been foreclosed.
The Times of Wayne County reported an incident where a person who attempted to take-over a foreclosed property on Wayneport Road, even began doing renovations without proper licenses or permits.
The individual, who was not identified, apparently told officials there that his plans included paying the back-taxes, and completing extensive renovations to the property.
However, he planned on doing that without getting the proper documentation to legalize it.
Officials are marking and monitoring properties across the town after they become uninhabitable. Specific properties where squatters have been an issue include the Meadowview Trailer Park and Pinewood Mobile Home Park.
Some properties have been under the townโs watch for more than a decade with little in the way of progress.
