Rains still causing flooding in Hudson Valley

MID-HUDSON – The rain is expected to continue in the region until approximately 3:30 PM today, December 18.  The rainfall that began last evening has caused power outages and road flooding in many areas of the Hudson Valley.

Route 9W has partial lane closures between Highland and New Windsor.

In Highland, Route 44 is closed in both directions between Reservoir and Van Wagner Roads.

In Poughkeepsie, the Hudson River is beginning to encroach on the banks of Waryas Park and has submerged part of the patio at the former Ice House Restaurant.  That flooding began at approximately 11:00 AM and is expected to get worse, with the Hudson River reaching high tide in Poughkeepsie at 5:03 PM today.

Motorists are encouraged to avoid driving through flooded roadways and be aware of road closure signage.
