Yankees legend could join YES Network broadcast booth: report

He’s been a part of some of the team’s most clutch and historic moments, including four World Series titles, but New York Yankees legend Bernie Williams may be taking his talents to the YES Network broadcast booth next.

According to the New York Post’s Andrew Marchand, Williams is in talks with the network to join the broadcast team for the 2024 season. Marchand noted that Williams could fill in alongside longtime play-by-play man Michael Kay, or add depth to the broadcast team behind a litany of former Yankees players.

Analysts David Cone, Paul O’Neill, John Flaherty, Jeff Nelson and Todd Frazier all played for the Yankees and currently work for YES. Williams was teammates at one point or another with all of the above, sans Frazier, but could also be a candidate to join Bob Lorenz and Jack Curry for the pre and post-game shows, according to Marchand.

Williams, 55, was a five-time All-Star across 16 seasons in the Bronx before hanging up his spikes in 2006. He played in more than 2,000 regular season games for the Yankees, stroking to a .297 batting average with 287 career home runs.

The 1998 American League batting champion has also released multiple musical albums as a guitarist since retiring and has often returned to Yankee Stadium throughout the years to perform, throw out the ceremonial first pitch, or take part in Old Timer’s Day.
