Last-minute holiday shoppers and revelers in Buffalo will have some free parking options through Christmas Day, as well as on New Year’s Day, Mayor Byron W. Brown and City Council President Darius Pridgen announced this week.
The reason behind suspending payments at meters in the city is to help Buffaloโs small businesses during the final days of the holiday shoppingย season and to encourage people to shop in the city and patronize its restaurants, said Brown.
The city has 24 identified shopping districts, with a new one emerging in the vicinity of the new West Side Bazaar at 1432 Niagara St. A map of Buffalo’s shopping districts is available online at buffalony.gov.
Free parking will also be available on New Yearโs Eve in downtown Buffalo, near Roosevelt Plaza, atย the Mohawk Ramp and Fernbach Ramp, courtesy of the mayor, the Buffalo Board of Parking andย Buffalo Civic Auto Ramps.
