Geneva’s Routes 5&20 are set for a makeover as road work resumes next year after a brief hiatus.
The New York State Department of Transportation (DOT) plans to repave the eastbound section from Lake Street to the Seneca County line, according to reporting by the Finger Lakes Times.
This project, described as a “road diet,” will reduce the eastbound lane to a single lane while maintaining two lanes westbound. City officials anticipate the construction to begin in late spring or early summer.
They noted that event schedules have been shared with the DOT to prevent clashes with local events, including the upcoming eclipse.
The work is expected to be completed by December 2024 with one lane remaining open throughout the duration of work for traffic flow.
