Dutchess Public Defender to retire

POUGHKEEPSIE – Dutchess County Public Defender Thomas Angell is retiring at the end of the year, County Executive Bill O’Neil said Friday.

Angel has served the county for 34 years including more than 12 years leading the public defender’s office including as acting public defender.

O’Neil said Angell has led the public defender’s office “with professionalism, integrity, and passionate advocacy on behalf of those within the criminal justice system of Dutchess County.”

Angell was appointed public defender in January 2013 by former County Executive Marcus Molinaro.

Angell’s law career spans over 42 years.
