The ambitious Rosalen Solar Energy Center, poised to be one of New York’s largest solar projects, is still awaiting approval, pushing its construction timeline to potentially 2027.
Initially expected to be operational by 2023 or 2024, the project, covering 2,000 acres in Wayne County’s towns of Rose and Galen, aims to generate 200 megawatts of electricity, according to the Finger Lakes Times.
This capacity is enough to power up to 52,000 homes, according to EDF Renewables, the project developers. The solar center also plans to include onsite storage capabilities.
EDF officials told the Times that although they haven’t secured a contract with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) this time, the company remains committed.
He noted that construction could start as early as 2027, affirming the company’s dedication to the project and the community.
