Looks like the Mitchells from Washington, D.C., were onto something when they told The Buffalo News last week that the City of Good Neighbors was a better place to visit than Paris.
Following Reader’s Digest’s accolade of it being the nicest place in America, Buffalo is now being considered one of the best places to travel to in the East in 2024.
Besides Virginia Wine Country and Rangeley, Maine, Buffalo was picked by Forbes Advisor contributor Barry Choi as one of the best travel destinations next year in the revered magazine’s annual Top 50 list.
“If you haven’t been to Buffalo in the last decade – or two – you may be surprised to find that the city has transformed,” he wrote.
Choi highlighted the various culinary offerings across Buffalo neighborhoods that reflect the growing diversity of the city, in addition to emphasizing the distinct public art and architecture throughout the city.
“Even the waterfront, which was once strictly industrial, has seen a significant revitalization. Visitors can now rock climb, zip line and catch a concert in the former grain silos,” Choi added.
The Buffalo AKG Art Museum, with its fresh $200million expansion and revitalization and eclectic art collection, also made an appearance in his list, along with the interactive Buffalo History Museum. The AKG is also one of the top contenders for the best new museum in the United States in a USA Today poll.
Mayor Byron Brown tweeted, “They specifically highlighted our growing diversity and culture, historic architecture and the newly expanded Buffalo AKG Art Museum as one of the top places to view contemporary art in the world. Thank you, Forbes magazine, for recognizing the City of Good Neighbors.”
