Police seek public’s help as they probe ‘perplexing and disturbing’ shooting of 3 city workers on I-190

Police are still trying to determine why a gunman killed one Buffalo Sewer Authority worker and shot two others Oct. 26 on the I-190 section of the State Thruway.

The 150 members of CWA Local 1186 are “in a state of shock and heartbroken” by the shooting, union officials said Friday morning in a statement.

No arrests have been made in the attack that killed Keyshawn N. Gault, 22, and wounded two of his city co-workers, Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn told The Buffalo News on Friday.

โ€œItโ€™s a very perplexing case, thatโ€™s a very good way to describe it,โ€ Flynn said. โ€œBecause at this point, despite some very intense investigation, we still donโ€™t know if it was a targeted hit, or if it was simply some kind of road rage incident.โ€

Flynn asked that anyone with information related to the case contact State Police, the lead agency in the investigation, at 585-344-6200.

An assailant or assailants driving southbound in a dark-colored, late model Jeep Grand Cherokee pulled alongside a marked Sewer Authority vehicle. The shots killed Gault and injured co-workers Lamar T. Whitfield, 23, and Myron L. Walker, 30, who was driving the city vehicle, police said.
