NYC weather: Cool air to move in following rain, AccuWeather says

Following mild temps and considerable rainfall amounts, NYC will see some cooler temperatures take over the area, as forecast by AccuWeather.

Lingering rainfall will characterize much of the week, with the heaviest precipitation amounts concentrated overnight Wednesday. As of the time of publication, the storm is forecast to dump 1.5 to 2 inches of rain over NYC, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

This storm is also coupled with mild temperatures, which have been a prominent feature of the past few days, including Christmas. According to the Staten Island Advance/SILive.comโ€™s weather station, Christmas clocked in at a mild high of 52 and a low of 43. These mild temperatures, much like the coming rain, have lingered; Wednesdayโ€™s temperatures topped out in the upper 40s, according to the Staten Island Advance/SILive.comโ€™s weather station.

Here in NYC, temperatures will ease off with highs in the 40s and lows in the 30s this weekend, as forecast by AccuWeather. However, this shift will be far more dramatic in the south, where areas along the Gulf Coast can witness a plummet to temperatures 5 to 10 degrees below the historical average.
