City employee charged with attempted murder: NYPD

Police have arrested and charged a 22-year-old woman who works for the city with attempted murder, according to the NYPD.

Diamond Matthews, an employee of the New York City Office of Technology and Innovation, which is best known for running the 311 system, was arrested in East Harlem on Tuesday at 9 p.m., while she was off duty, the department said in a release Thursday.

An NYPD spokesperson said Matthews’ arrest stemmed from a fight where she was a bystander as one person stabbed another, but did not provide additional information about the circumstances.

She was arraigned Tuesday at Manhattan Criminal Court, where Judge Pamela Goldsmith set bail at $15,000 cash and $10,000 bond. Court records show Matthews pleaded not guilty and made bail.

Neither Matthews nor her lawyer, Bradley Foster of the Legal Aid Society, immediately responded to a request for comment early Thursday morning.

Second city employee arrested, for attempted assault

Police also said they arrested 27-year-old Ashley Anderson, a school safety agent with the NYPD, on charges of attempted assault, menacing, harassment and criminal weapons possession, on Wednesday night while she was off duty.

Anderson was allegedly involved in a verbal dispute with an adult relative and pulled out a sharp object that may have been a knife, according to the NYPD.

No one was injured in the incident, and Anderson was arrested at the 75th precinct station house in East New York shortly before 10 p.m., a police spokesperson said.

She had previously worked at a school in Brooklyn, but the spokesperson could not specify which one.

Attorney information for Anderson was not immediately available.
