The sight of the UNIQLO-branded storefront comes after the company announced it would open 20 stores across North America in 2024, after experiencing heightened popularity in 2023, which the brand attributes to its viral mini shoulder bag and other collaborations.

Founded in 1949 in Yamaguchi, Japan, UNIQLO is renowned for its high-quality, everyday clothing. There are over 1,000 locations around the world. There are currently 53 stores across the United States and 11 in New York, including UNIQLOโ€™s sister brand GU.

Staten Islanders are familiar with UNIQLO, as the store was formerly on the Mallโ€™s second floor, but closed in 2016 after operating for less than three years. Many UNIQLOs in the suburbs were closing at the time, as the brand focused on establishing a presence in large cities to create bigger stores.

This time around, the store can be found on the first floor of the Mall, with two separate entrances — one across from H&M and the other around the corner next to Aldo.
