STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — As the new year unfolds, many may be seeking a new employment opportunity.
In 2023, job growth remained robust, although it slowed down compared to the rapid rates in 2021 and 2022 during the post-pandemic recovery, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
“With the U.S. experiencing a low unemployment rate, and many employers still having labor shortages, now is an ideal time to find a job. Currently, workers have a lot of negotiating power. Well-qualified job candidates are in a great position to acquire competitive salaries and benefits,” said Cassandra Happe, WalletHub analyst.
According to the WalletHub study “Best Cities for Jobs (2024),” your geographical location could influence your job search, despite the unemployment rate returning to pre-pandemic levels.
In the study, WalletHub analyzed over 180 U.S. cities, assessing 31 key indicators of job-market strength — including factors like job opportunities, employment growth and starting salaries — to help job seekers find the best location for employment.
New York City ranked 146th on the list, influenced by factors such as job opportunities, employment growth, unemployment rate, industry variety, housing affordability and more.
Although NYC may not excel in job prospects, according to WalletHub, here are the top 10 cities outlined on the report.
