STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — A 61-year-old man died after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed the street at an Ocean Breeze intersection, according to police.
The crash was reported at around 6:10 p.m. at Father Capodanno Boulevard and Lincoln Avenue, according to a spokeswoman for the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information.
According to police, the man was crossing Father Capodanno Boulevard towards a parking lot on the opposite side of the street when he was struck by the vehicle traveling northbound.
The victim was transported to Staten Island University Hospital in Ocean Breeze, where he was pronounced dead. The driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene, the spokeswoman said.
A white SUV could be seen parked at the location of the accident, while members of the NYPD’s Highway Collision Investigation Squad surveyed the area.
